Webinar Series Helps Parents Navigate Race

With an eye toward our goal of becoming a more inclusive community for all, Westminster offered a three-part webinar series for parents this semester. Hundreds of parents tuned in to hear practical, research-based information from top experts in the field of equity and inclusion. In January, educator, consultant, and longtime Westminster partner Dr. Ali Michael spoke on “Building Healthy Multiracial Communities.” In February, researcher and educator Dr. Howard Stevenson shared his perspective on “Talking to Children About Race: Skills and Dialogue to Build Racial Literacy,” and Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, former president of Spelman College, wrapped up the series in April with her powerful talk moderated by Head of Middle School Danette Morton on the topic of “Leadership and Building Inclusive Communities.”

“It was an exceptional opportunity to engage with and learn from respected researchers in the area of DEI. The topics and discussions were both thought-provoking and unifying. I really appreciated this experience along my own path of lifelong learning."
