Love Hall Project Overview

When the Board of Trustees Campus Planning Committee first began their work identifying the greatest needs across Westminster’s 180-acre campus almost a decade ago, The Gay and Erskine Love Hall at The Irene and George Woodruff Elementary School was a clear priority. As the home of our youngest Wildcats, Love Hall is a place filled with joy and wonder where Lower School faculty provide an innovative and engaging experience each and every day. The new and renovated spaces planned within the Love Hall campus will address immediate curricular needs related to innovation, art, and music; community space that will allow the entire Love Hall community to gather together; and a new home for our burgeoning ASK! program.

The Love Hall renovation and expansion will address the Lower School’s most immediate needs and support the School’s unique programs and experiences through:

  • Creating a welcoming experience for students by opening up the Lower School library to provide more opportunities for access, connection, and collaboration
  • Creating dedicated activity and performance spaces to best serve the Lower School's dynamic program offerings
  • Providing adequate spaces for a growing instrumental music program
  • Creating an adequate space for the ASK! (After School Kids!) program
  • Positioning Lower School leadership at the School’s entrance
  • Providing spaces for small-group instruction
  • Reducing activity congestion in the Hamilton Room
  • Connecting the Lower School to the rest of campus
